About the Show
Down is the portrayal of the true story of Larry Walters- a man who always dreamed of flying, but never had good enough eyesight to be a pilot. Years later he decided to make his dream a reality and tied forty-five helium balloons to his lawn chair and soared fifteen thousand feet (over three miles) up into the air. However, not too long after his successful flight, he shot himself in the heart and committed suicide.
Down is fully composed of found text, clips from newspapers and television interviews, and even from his mayday call to air traffic control. Down attempts to tell the story of his full life using his own words, including what came after he “achieved his dreams”.
